DENVER – In any given game, there really aren’t many guys defenseman Warren Jeffrey is going to back down to.
Standing tall at 6-3, 228 lbs. as he traversed his sixth professional campaign, the man they call “Moose” ended the season ranked fifth overall in all-time Colorado Mammoth penalty minute rankings after yet another season enforcing justice on the turf.
Racking up 28 penalty minutes throughout the year, he wasn’t looking to dish out a beating, but if/when opposing personnel wanted some smoke, he was usually one of the first to start a fire.
And always has been since the organization selected him in the first round (sixth overall) of the 2019 NLL Entry Draft.
However, Jeffrey didn’t earn the team’s Dave Stilley Award, named the squad’s top defenseman from the 2025-26 season, just for roughing guys up.
Once again serving as one of the team’s primary stay-home defenders while regularly guarding some of the most talented and agile players in the league, No. 14 was a physical menace – and usually one of the last guys in the league an opposing forward wants assigned to them.
He’s quick to flash a smile and a friendly greeting, or thoughtful chirp, to his teammates, or even exchange stories with fans during a postgame meet-and-greet.
But when he’s rocking the burgundy and black threads inside the LOUD HOUSE, he’s got one goal:

Despite remaining one of the most reliable guys on the back end, Jeffrey still managed to tie his career-high point total, earning eight points (2g, 6a) last season as a proven transition threat.
And, in all fairness, Moose didn’t draw that many willing opponents who are ready to commit to stopping the long-legged talent when he gets speeding through the middle of the floor.
The big-bodied defenseman added 66 loose balls, eight caused turnovers and 13 blocked shots (which ranked third-most amongst Mammoth personnel) across 17 regular season appearances.
Ending the season with an even 100 career games played, he brough the same dedicated presence to the team’s postseason showdown against the San Diego Seals, eventually recording five loose balls, three caused turnovers, one blocked shots and a few rather impactful hits on the night.
Due to his ever-growing defensive discipline and ability to push the pace, he’ll never be just a true enforcer: He’s far too talented, and needed on the turf, to fully embrace that role.
That said, any time one of the forwards or smaller defenseman are getting picked on, you better bet Jeffrey is somewhere in the vicinity, or will be soon.
