DENVER – The Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) today announced the organization signed defenseman Robert Hope to a one-year contract agreement, set to begin during the league’s 2026-27 campaign.
Hope, 35, most recently paced Colorado with a team-high 160 loose balls, 28 blocked shots and 14 caused turnovers (tied with fellow defenseman Connor Nock) as the team’s on-floor commander and tone-setting presence, with the captain’s 28 blocked shots ranking fourth-most in the NLL last season and his 160 loose ball recoveries ranked fifth-best amongst all league talent in 2025-26.
Hope’s 160 loose ball recoveries also represent the fifth-most recorded within a single season when it comes to Colorado Mammoth records, tying longtime defenseman Cameron Holding, with the captain pacing Colorado in scoops for each of the past eight seasons and in nine of his past ten campaigns.
The Peterborough, Ontario native also recorded a career-best 14 points (1g, 13a), including a personal-best-tying 13 assists throughout the defenseman’s 11th professional campaign.
Named the team’s 2026 Jay Jalbert Teammate of the Year for the sixth time last season, Hope remains an instrumental chess piece when it comes to harnessing team discipline while ensuring the squad is producing both on the floor and within the community.
Originally selected by Colorado during the first round (seventh overall) of the 2014 NLL Entry Draft, Hope remains atop the organization’s all-time loose ball and caused turnover rankings as one of the franchise’s most dedicated defensemen, if not players overall.
Across his 188 regular season appearances, all of which came while sporting the Mammoth crest, Hope has racked up 98 points (5g, 93a)1,455 loose balls, 233 caused turnovers, and 183 penalty minutes as he looks to surpass the 200-game mark during the upcoming campaign.
Throughout his career postseason journey, he’s added 11 points (0g, 11a), 156 loose balls, 32 caused turnovers and 20 penalty minutes in his 23 playoff appearances.
