Mammoth Re-Sign Forward Ty Thompson

DENVER – The Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) today announced the organization has re-signed forward Ty Thompson to a two-year contract agreement, set to begin during the 2023-24 NLL campaign.

“Ty is a big, athletic offensive player with a tremendous stick and vision on the floor,” Mammoth General Manager Brad Self said. “He’s a young guy who’s proven he has what it takes to score goals and compete in our league and we can’t wait to see him get back to work this season.”

Inked to the organization as a free agent prior to the start of the 2022-23 campaign, the 6-6, 210-lb. forward appeared in nine regular season games with the Mammoth last season. Recording a career-best 20 points (11g, 9a), 21 loose balls, one caused turnover and two penalty minutes during his first season with Colorado, Thompson made his Mammoth debut Dec. 17 during a 12-9 win over Panther City. Chipping in two points (2g, 0a) and two loose balls, his inaugural tally of the night also represented the first of his young NLL career.

Eventually suffering an injury late in the regular season, Thompson was designated to the organization’s Injured Reserve List, unavailable for the team’s postseason run.

Originally drafted by the New York Riptide in the 2020 NLL Entry Draft (second round, 25th overall), the Nepean, Ontario native logged two points (0g, 2a) and two loose balls in two regular season appearances with the Riptide during the 2021-22 campaign. Later selected by the Las Vegas Desert Dogs in the 2022 NLL Expansion Draft as the league welcomed its 15th team, Thompson spent part of last season’s training camp with the Desert Dogs before ultimately being released and signed by the Mammoth.

In 11 career games played, the big-bodied scoring threat has produced 22 points (11g, 11a), 23 loose balls, one caused turnover and two penalty minutes. The talented 24-year-old will return to Denver on the new two-year contract where he’ll look to continue developing his skills and take the next step in becoming a regular in the team’s packed offensive front.
