Mammoth Ink Defenseman Brett Craig to New Deal

DENVER – The Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) today announced the organization has re-signed defenseman Brett Craig to a two-year contract agreement, set to begin during the 2023-24 NLL campaign.

“Brett works as hard as anyone and is a true professional,” Mammoth General Manager Brad Self said. “He’s dealt with some injuries the past few seasons but continues to keep a positive attitude and has been an unbelievable teammate. We’re excited to see what he can do next season when healthy and with a full offseason to prepare.”

Approaching his fourth season with Colorado, Craig most recently recorded one point (0g, 1a), 21 loose balls, three blocked shots, four caused turnovers and 11 penalty minutes in six regular season appearances during the 2022-23 campaign after missing the team’s entire 2021-22 NLL Championship run with a lower-body injury. Adding two loose balls and two penalty minutes in his lone playoff appearance during the Mammoth’s attempt to run it back, the big-bodied defenseman will look to build on his totals from this past season as he continues to round back into a regular role on the back end.

Originally selected by the Colorado Mammoth during the 2019 NLL Entry Draft (second round, 26th overall), Craig has totaled five points (2g, 3a), 70 loose balls, eight caused turnovers, three blocked shots and 21 penalty minutes in just 14 career regular season games played. With this past postseason representing his only playoff action to date, the Calgary, Alberta native’s two loose balls and two penalty minutes in one game played round out his limited summertime exposure.

While the 6-5, 225-lb. defenseman has been forced to deal with injuries throughout the beginning of his career, he and fellow 2019 NLL Entry Draft classmate Warren Jeffrey continue to represent the youthful resurgence within the team’s defensive unit, which has traditionally relied upon its disciplined veterans. Craig is set to rejoin Colorado during the team’s training camp, set to begin in November later this fall.
