Colorado Mammoth Make Three Selections During NLL Dispersal Draft

DENVER – The Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) today announced the organization made three selections during Tuesday’s NLL Dispersal Draft.

Colorado began the afternoon by selecting right-handed defenseman Alex Pace during the first round (7th overall) of the draft.

Pace, 28, most recently recorded a career-high eight points (2g, 6a) and new personal-best 126 loose balls across 17 regular season appearances with the Philadelphia Wings.

Originally selected by the Wings during the second round (20th overall) of the 2019 NLL Entry Draft, the 6-1, 185-lb. talent added 10 caused turnovers, 13 blocked shots and 10 penalty minutes to his resume during the 2025-26 NLL season, which represented his sixth professional campaign.

Having spent all 101 career regular season appearances with Philadelphia, Pace joins Colorado with 31 career points (7g, 24a), 515 loose balls, 68 caused turnovers, 57 blocked shots and 81 penalty minutes to his name.

During his single career playoff appearance with the Wings, he recorded six loose balls, one caused turnover and three blocked shots.

After entering the draft with rights to the No. 19 selection, the Mammoth traded the second-round Dispersal Draft pick to the Saskatchewan Rush in exchange for Saskatchewan’s second-round selection in the 2027 NLL Entry Draft.

Making the organization’s second selection of the day, Mammoth General Manager Brad Self and company continued adding to the team’s back-end depth by selecting right-handed defenseman Andrew Borgatti during the third round (31st overall) Tuesday.

Borgatti, 27, logged one point (0g, 1a), 37 loose balls, four caused turnovers, three blocked shots and 12 penalty minutes last season with the Ottawa Black Bears.

Originally drafted by the New York Riptide during the second round (29th overall) of the 2020 NLL Entry Draft, the Brampton, Ontario native has recorded 28 points (4g, 24a), 195 loose balls, 26 caused turnovers, 21 blocked shots and 33 penalty minutes throughout his 83 career regular season appearances.

Colorado rounded out its trio of selections by drafting left-handed transition specialist Evan Messenger during the fourth round (43rd overall) of the NLL Dispersal Draft.

Messenger, 30, notched three points (1g, 2a), 24 loose balls, four caused turnovers, four blocked shots and six penalty minutes during 12 games played with the Wings last season.

Across the veteran’s 65 regular season appearances, he’s recorded 33 points (10g, 23a), 125 loose balls, 26 caused turnovers, 21 blocked shots and 27 penalty minutes.

The 6-1, 190-lb. Delta, British Columbia native added one point (0g, 1a), two loose balls and one caused turnover throughout his three postseason games played since being drafted by the Vancouver Stealth during the fourth round (39th overall) of the 2015 NLL Entry Draft.

Tuesday afternoon’s draft was a result of both the Ottawa Black Bears and Philadelphia Wings organizations ceasing operations as of Sept. 10, with the league set to move forward with 12 squads during the upcoming 2026-27 campaign.

The NLL Dispersal Draft selection order was decided in accordance with NLL by-laws.

Clubs made selections in reverse order based on their regular-season winning percentages over the past two NLL campaigns, with the 2025-26 season weighed at 70 percent and the reigning NLL Finals champion Toronto Rock selecting last in each round.

NLL Free Agency is primed to begin Friday, Sept. 18 at 3 p.m. MT.

The world’s premier box lacrosse entity will then turn its attention to the approaching 2026 NLL Entry Draft presented by Capelli Sport, which is set to take place Thursday, Sept. 24 at 4 p.m. MT.
