Colorado Mammoth Acquires Defenseman Matt Dunn from Georgia Swarm

The Colorado Mammoth announced today the organization has acquired defenseman Matt Dunn from the Georgia Swarm in exchange for a conditional third round selection in the 2024 NLL Entry Draft.

Hailing from Towson, Maryland, the 6-3, 225 lb. defenseman most recently logged nine ground balls and five caused turnovers in 10 games played with the Whipsnakes of the Premier Lacrosse League. Dunn helped the club capture consecutive PLL championships in 2019 and 2020 and was named to his fifth PLL All-Star Team in 2022.

Playing university ball not too far from home, Dunn twice earned Division 1 All-American honors during his playing days at the University of Maryland, where he recorded two points (1g, 1a), 55 ground balls and 32 caused turnovers in 63 collegiate appearances.

Originally signed by the Georgia Swarm in 2018, Dunn made his NLL debut during the 2018-19 campaign, where he recorded six points (1g, 5a), 36 loose balls, five caused turnovers and eight penalty minutes in 16 games played. The defenseman would go on to add nine loose balls and two caused turnovers in four appearances during the shortened 2019-20 NLL campaign.

The exchange between the Mammoth and Swarm represents the first trade between the organizations since Colorado acquired forward Sam Firth from Georgia in September of 2021. Firth, who logged his first professional appearance during the NLL Finals, now plays with the NLL’s latest expansion team, the Las Vegas Desert Dogs, after being acquired in an Expansion Draft-day trade with Las Vegas.
